Streaming does not work on ec2 linux instance

Hello

I am learning the streaming API's and the example works work perfectly on local machine, but when i run it on an ec2 linux instance it does not stream, I am not getting any errors but bytestransferred is 0. The connect however is sucessful. Do I have to add any inbound rules to allow traffic?
